Kalkaska was a wonderful event! In my 52 years of racing I have not seen a better prepared trail that was so well packed (for months) that the warm weather did not have ANY effect on the trail surface. I ran in the 8-dog class (early in the morning, and the four dog pro and senior classic at the very end of the day, and was impressed just how little change occurred in the trail conditions. To all the volunteers of Kalkaska races - thank you for all your work. When you drive such a long way, you wonder if it is something you will do again. Without question the answer is yes. The trails were GREAT! The organization of managing all those mushers was AWESOME. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The dogs and ...I are pretty tired from the long drive but it is satisfied tired from a great weekend.~Laurel Turansky
