Kalkaska was a wonderful event! In my 52 years of racing I have not seen a better prepared trail that was so well packed (for months) that the warm weather did not have ANY effect on the trail surface. I ran in the 8-dog class (early in the morning, and the four dog pro and senior classic at the very end of the day, and was impressed just how little change occurred in the trail conditions.
